Mentawai Earthquake & Tsunami Updated

Monday, October 25, 2010 at 21:42 local time, an earthquake with great force (measuring as 7.2 magnitude) struck the Mentawai islands, followed by a sweep of the tsunami destroyed thousands of settlements and killed many peoples.

Based on Pusdalops PB Sumbar report on Oct, 28 2010 13.00 GMT+7, the latest death toll of a quake-triggered tsunami that hit Mentawai Islands, West Sumatra is 343 people with 338 others missing, 264 minor and 140 light injured. Around 4,000 people evacuated and are being placed in temporary shelters in North Pagai sub-district.
